Graduate earnings and university fees are commented on by Professor Anna Vignoles in a Times Higher Education article published this week.

The article covers reports that the government is considering lowering university fees and increasing direct grants in science courses, and that English university fees could be varied in line with graduate earnings.

Professor Vignoles was part of a study published in 2016 looking at the link between earnings and students’ background, degree subject and university. In the THE article, she outlines that objections to funding being linked to graduate earnings include that many view the purpose of higher education as being wider than employability, and that skills from courses such as nursing are not highly valued in salary terms.
