Transforming the Future? Anticipation in the 21st Century
What is the future? How is it imagined and its social content decided? How have practices of foresight and projection developed, and who is authorised to plan for the future? Can the future be made more democratic?
Drawing on his experience as Head of UNESCO’s Foresight programme and his recent path-defining book, Transforming the Future (Routledge Open Access 2018), author and expert Riel Miller will attempt to answer some of these questions.
Riel Miller is one of the world’s leading authorities on the theory and practice of using the future to change what people see and do. He has worked as a senior manager in the Ontario public service and at OECD in Paris. In 2012 he was appointed Head of Foresight at UNESCO.
