Communities in Space: A One-Day Conference
2021 marked what some have called the "billionaire space race". We are witnessing increasing involvement of private individuals in human spaceflight.
Some are even exploring basing their ventures in space and building offices in orbit. It is now time, therefore, to consider some of the implications of private and commercial human activities in space and consider how societies may build and grow off-planet.
From the current development of space tourism to future human ventures, employment, and settlement, many issues need to be explored beyond the engineering and technical challenges posed by the harsh space environment. This one-day conference investigates these social, economic, cultural, legal, governmental, and other issues relating to future human space activities.
To highlight some of the many issues involved, the first Cambridge Workshop on Communities in Space will gather together a collection of distinguished speakers who are space experts to bring us some invaluable insights.
