International Workshop on China and the World Economy: Transition and Challenges

The China Centre, Jesus College, organised a joint workshop with the Development Research Centre (DRC) of the State Council of China on 9-10 June 2018.

The book forms part of a jointly edited series China in the World, published by Routledge, under the general editorship of Professor Peter Nolan (University of Cambridge) and President Li Wei (DRC).  The book contains chapters written by Chinese and Western scholars, covering a wide range of issues in China’s economic relationship with the world economy.  A launch ceremony for the book was held as part of the weekend’s programme.

International participants in the workshop were: Professor Robert Ash (SOAS, University of London), Professor Kjeld Erik Brødsgaard (Copenhagen Business School), Dr Ha-Joon Chang (University of Cambridge), Professor Christopher Cramer (SOAS, University of London), Professor Paul Dembinski (University of Fribourg), Professor Lord John Eatwell (University of Cambridge), Dr Shailaja Fennell (1991) (University of Cambridge), Professor Martin Fransman (University of Edinburgh), Mr Michael Kuczynski (University of Cambridge), Professor Michael Landesmann (Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies), Professor Peter Nolan (University of Cambridge), Dr Isabella Weber (Goldsmiths, University of London) and Dr Jin Zhang (University of Cambridge).

The weekend’s events formed the first of an on-going programme of academic workshops and collaborations between the China Centre, Jesus College and the DRC.
