Congratulations to our graduands

There was a celebratory mood in College as 149 Jesuans marked the completion of their studies today.

This was the main celebration for undergraduate students completing their three and four year degrees across a breadth of subjects.

Master of Jesus College, Sonita Alleyne, said: “I am immensely proud of all of you. You came to university at an unprecedented time, but you have persisted with your studies despite the challenges that have come your way. You are an extraordinary group and I have no doubt that the brilliance, determination and resilience you have shown throughout your time at university will help you flourish and succeed in whatever you do next.”

Events began with the traditional rehearsal in the Frankopan Hall where Praelector and Dean of Chapel, the Rev’d James Crockford, and Senior Tutor, Paul Dominiak, shared their tips with the students on how to get through the degree ceremony without mishaps like getting caught in their gown.

Graduands then processed to Chapel Court for the official photograph. A short while later they assembled in First Court and processed through the main College gate, down the Chimney, and along Jesus Lane to University Senate House in King’s Parade for the ceremony. Family and friends lined Jesus Lane and cheered as the graduands emerged from the Chimney.

After the ceremony they returned to College for a celebration with their tutors, family and friends.

We extend our warm congratulations to our class of 2023 and, in the words of the College motto, hope that their journeys may be successful - whatever the future holds for them.
