Chapel and Choir contacts
Whether you're looking for pastoral care, worshipping, or booking an event, the Chapel and Choir team are here to help.
People come to Chapel for a variety of reasons, from a range of backgrounds, and with different gifts and experiences. We welcome that diversity.
We seek to be an inclusive community, and to put into practice St Benedict’s teaching that everyone must be welcomed as Christ himself. As we try to keep that tradition of pastoral care and hospitality alive, we look forward to welcoming you.

Chapel Clerks and Secretaries
The Chapel Clerks are paid graduates, and Secretaries are undergraduate volunteers, who help setting up services and maintaining the Chapel. If you would like to help in this capacity, you can contact the Dean of Chapel. The Chapel Clerks arrange for volunteers from the wider College to help out in various ways at services.
The Bible readings for services in Chapel are read by a wide variety of people: students, fellows, and staff members.
Anyone who would like to read is most welcome to, whether or not you would describe yourself as a practising Christian, or have ever read in a church before. It is a good opportunity to become more involved in College life, to get to know the Bible, and develop confidence.
If you'd like to read at services, lead prayers, or join in the life of the Chapel in any way, you can contact the Chapel Clerks for more information.
Jesus College Chapel has a long and rich tradition of church music. It's distinctive in maintaining two choirs: the Chapel Choir, with its centuries of tradition, which is made up of boy choristers and adult male singers; and the College Choir, formed in 1982, which has female undergraduates for its top line.
The adult male singers form the ‘back row’ for both choirs. Each choir has developed a distinctive reputation and repertoire, whilst combining for key events and large projects.
In addition to the weekly schedule of choral services, members of the Choirs enjoy concerts, recordings, broadcasts, and foreign tours. Further information may be found on the Jesus College Choir website.
