England 2013
At the end of the academic year, the College Choir gave a number of concerts in venues around the UK, performing Summer concerts in Halstead Essex, Froyle Hampshire and Cavendish Suffolk.
A visit to Coxwold in Yorkshire saw the Choir perform to a capacity audience in St Michael’s Church as part of the tercentenary celebrations for Laurence Sterne, author of Tristram Shandy and former student of Jesus College.
The highlight of a concert at St James’s Piccadilly with the Choir of Merton College Oxford in aid of the Muze Trust was undoubtedly a performance of Tallis’s 40-part motet, Spem in alium whilst visits to St Gabriel’s Pimlico and the Salmon Youth Centre in Bermondsey also featured in a busy London weekend.
The year ended with the Choir’s residency at the Oundle International Festival which saw concerts and services in Apethorpe, Woodnewton and Peterborough Cathedral in addition to a performance of the Monteverdi Vespers in Oundle School Chapel. The Choir took part in workshops with students on the Oundle for Organists course, and concluded the week with a live broadcast of Morning Worship on BBC Radio 4.
