Upper Hall

Our spacious Upper Hall dates back to the foundation of the College by Bishop Alcock in 1496. Medieval carvings decorate the crossbeams of the restored roof, and large arched windows provide ample natural daylight.

The whitewashed walls are undecorated except for a distinctive mural by Richard Long, River Avon Mud, 1996. The Upper Hall leads onto a balcony that overlooks our magnificent 15th century Hall (these can be booked together for large events). We have a detailed accessibility guide for the whole site on AccessAble; please get in touch if you have any specific enquiries about this room.

Charm your guests in this elegant dining room dating back to the foundation of the College in the 15th century. Suitable for formal dinners, buffets and drinks receptions.

Licensed for civil ceremonies, the Upper Hall is a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony or reception. It can also be turned around for the wedding breakfast if required. Suitable for up to 40 guests for a formal dinner (60 if using balcony too), or 60 guests for a drinks reception (80 if using balcony too).
