Dr Zheng Liu is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Intellectual Forum, where she researches China’s digital transformation and its multifaceted impacts on the country’s economy, society, and culture.
Zheng holds a BA and an MA in media and communication studies as well as an MPhil and a PhD in sociology. Her main research interest is in the sociologies of culture and technology, focusing on how culture and technology interact with political and economic power in society. Previously, Zheng has carried out research on the independent bookselling business in China, investigating the meaning, process, tensions, and implications of culture-making in an authoritarian capitalist context.
