Director of Music

The Director of Music has overall responsibility for the direction and management of Chapel music, including the recruitment and training of the two choirs – the ‘Chapel Choir’ of boys plus adult lower voices, and the ‘College Choir’ of adults. This work will be done in liaison with, and being accountable to, the Dean of Chapel, who has overall responsibility for running the Chapel, its worship and the order of services.

The  Director of Music may at their discretion delegate some day-to-day responsibilities to the organ scholars.

The Director of Music will ordinarily direct choral services during Full Term and will be responsible for selecting repertoire for a termly music list, published in advance of the start of term, in liaison with the Dean of Chapel. They will attend meetings with the Dean and other Chapel staff for the organisation of Chapel worship. They are responsible for the Choir budget within the Chapel budget in liaison with the Finance Office and the Dean, and for the distribution of certain charitable funds.

The successful candidate would ideally be available to start from 1 January 2023.
