Jesus College is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and historical colleges at Cambridge! It is also, in my opinion, one of the most supportive colleges: from wellbeing to the porters there is always someone to ask for advice, support, or to talk through your stress.
I chose Jesus for many reasons. Firstly, it’s right in the heart of the city centre which is amazing not only for that quick top-up shop but also to explore the beautiful city of Cambridge even while busy (it’s so easy to go for a 10-minute walk to see the beautiful grassy greens with cows or explore the historic Cambridge architecture). Secondly, I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again, it is stunning. You really do feel like you’re living in someone’s castle (the tutorial office is at the top of a tower with a spiral staircase just to bring that point home). Finally, the MCR and musical life of Jesus drew me in to application. The supportiveness of the MCR and wide array of freshers’ events, people to support you, and vast number of societies gives everyone the chance to succeed and feel part of the family. I hope to join the Music Society, and there’s always the chance to sing in the chapel choir, join one of the ensembles, enjoy the beautiful concerts or use the well-equipped practice rooms (having these on site and free to use is another bonus).
All in all, Jesus already feels like my home and I would definitely recommend coming here.
But don’t take my word for it – come and look around, meet our friendly porters, and see this beautiful college for yourself!
