Biography
Edwin Jarratt Barnham has been a member of Jesus College Cambridge since 2017. As an undergraduate, through the Natural Sciences Tripos, he studied a range of subjects including the Biology of Cells, Chemistry, and Evolution, before ultimately focusing his studies on Plant and Microbial Sciences. He subsequently united these topics during his PhD in Plant Sciences, during which he used a combination of plant genetics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics to deepen our understanding of how plants respond to nutrient-deficient conditions and thereby engage in a symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.
From September 2024, he will be continuing his research in a postdoctoral position at the Crop Science Centre, with the aim of improving crop nutrient-use efficiency to promote sustainable agricultural intensification.
Other interests
Frisbee, squash, running, chess, singing, piano, travelling.
