Dr Andrew Grant

Fellow, Director of Studies in Veterinary Sciences
University Positions
University Associate Professor in Microbial Pathogenesis
Specialising in
Functional genomics and genomics of bacterial pathogens

Andrew Grant is a University Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and a Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge.

Academic interests

Andrew has an interest in bacterial pathogens of veterinary and clinical importance both in the UK and overseas. His research uses genomic and functional genomic approaches, combined with advanced molecular, proteomic and microscopy techniques, and often integrated with mathematical and statistical models, to determine the basis by which bacterial pathogens survive in the environment, colonise their hosts and cause disease, and to use this knowledge to develop and test novel therapeutic approaches.

Degrees obtained

  • BSc in Biochemistry and Pharmacology, University of Southampton (1997).
  • PhD, University of Southampton (2001).

Other interests

Family, cooking, food and sport.
