Jaspar Robertson

Jaspar is an Intellectual Forum Associate.

Jaspar is a Senior Business Development Director, leading engagements with major global organisations.

What are you working on now?

I am currently engaged in developing groups of future leaders for a global leader in digital transformation. In common with many different business areas, this now presents as a much more dynamic area than it has been in the past, requiring greater engagement and interactivity.

How has your career to date led to this?

After 12 years in retail credit sales and marketing I started to question how organisations approached the different leadership challenges that they were confronted with. I spent several years working with marketing and accounting specialists, preparing them for their professional qualifications (CIM/CIMA/ACCA), before then joined the Institute for Manufacturing in order to design, develop and deliver a Masters in Industrial Innovation Entrepreneurship and Management for the University of Trinidad & Tobago.

In 2010 I was invited to join Cambridge Judge Business School as the Senior Business Development Director, leading their engagements with major global organisations.

In recent years I have also been supporting start up and scale up organisations across the UK as well as mentoring a number of aspiring marketing professionals.

What one thing would you most want someone to learn from what you’ve done or are doing now?

To have the confidence to voice your own opinion.  Questioning existing norms and values is always difficult but to do so in the face of an existing hierarchy, requires real courage and confidence.  However, no organisation can grow and succeed if they do not recognise the changing environment and the voice of the future – especially when they come from within their own ranks.

What do you think of Jesus College and the Intellectual Forum?

I am looking forward to joining the Intellectual Forum, to be challenged with different views and perspectives and have the opportunity to make a contribution to some of the current, contentious issues facing modern societies.
