This event offers current students the opportunity to learn valuable interview skills, with two experts from the world of recruiting. Current students can register for free via Eventbrite

Following the huge success of our CV/LinkedIn Clinic, we are extremely fortunate to once again be joined by Mohan Yogendran (1982) Executive Recruiter, and Douglas Board (1975) Former Head-hunter and Careers Coach for Senior Level Executives, who have interviewed and coached thousands of candidates between them and will share their tips for success, as well as the common mistakes you should avoid!

There will also be the opportunity to have your interview performance professionally critiqued (in a safe environment!) and receive constructive encouragement and advice from two experts in the fields of international recruitment and careers coaching.

If you are happy to be interviewed in front of other students, please indicate this on the booking form. You will also be asked to submit your CV in advance of the workshop.

This event is open to all Jesus College students, but limited to 45 places. Book early to avoid disappointment! We will give priority on a first-come, first-served basis to students who register and indicate, in a sentence or two, what aspect of interviewing they would most like help with.

Mohan Yogendran:

I'm an executive recruiter that leads the private sector search work at Rockpools, working internationally on various retained projects. My earlier career was at EY hiring for the firm into senior roles in corporate finance and market / sector disciplines; in the executive recruitment business within PwC; and in HR and diversity leadership positions in local government in the UK. I have recruited to senior roles in a variety of disciplines including at CEO / MD level and in general management, finance, technology, HR and operations. In recent years I have hired for organisations in over 20 countries, and have developed over the last 11 years a particular interest and specialism in recruiting in emerging markets including in Africa and the Caribbean.Specialties: Senior level international recruitment including in emerging markets; developments and trends in professional services, outsourcing, shared services, and public / private sector interaction - and as a keyboard player, in soul, jazz, gospel and R&B music!

Douglas Board:

Douglas Board has enjoyed a backstage pass into Britain’s power bases for 30 years. For more than two decades a gatekeeper for some of the country’s high places, in 2010 he received a doctorate in how we choose leaders. He has been a leader himself and is currently a coach for a number of senior executives.

Douglas received a first-class honours degree in mathematics from Cambridge University, followed by a scholarship to Harvard for his master’s. After working in Whitehall he joined Saxton Bampfylde, a leading UK executive search firm, of which he became deputy chairman. He was a trustee, and then treasurer, of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, and for six years chaired Britain’s largest refugee charity, the Refugee Council. Currently he is one of the five non-legal members of the Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel; the Church of England’s external adviser in renewing its selection process for priests-in-training; and an honorary senior visiting fellow at the business school of City, University of London.

He lives in London and, when possible, in Johannesburg. He usually says that he has published four books (all on leadership – two applied research books and two satirical novels) but in truth his first published book, in Hong Kong at the age of nineteen, was a maths textbook. He likes to explain things.

Douglas’ new book, Elites, is out now www.eye-books.com/books/elites
