The fourth industrial revolution is accelerating with the growth of the Internet of Things, Fifth Generation (5G) mobile communications, big data, and Artificial Intelligence. While promising major opportunities, the revolution is also creating new and challenging global issues as the needs of geopolitics, security and commerce collide.

Governance of information and communication technology cannot be solely centred on the United States and Europe. Change is progressing at an equal, if not greater, pace and impact in emerging countries. The size of China’s digital economy, technological capabilities, and rapid economic and societal digital transformation ensures that it will be a prominent partner in global discussions.

In this UK-China Global Issues Dialogue Centre event, thought leaders will discuss the growing challenges around internationally-agreed governance. They will develop proposals for innovative, multilateral solutions to be published in a whitepaper, with the aim of shaping global debate and future policy direction.
