Information

Organising a conference or other event at Jesus College? Here's everything you need to know.

How to find us

View our full travel information and directions.

For pedestrians or those alighting from buses or taxis it's best to use the Jesus Lane entrance. Cars should use the electronic gates on Victoria Avenue, where assistance is provided through an intercom.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we encourage all visitors to use sustainable transport methods to reach the College. If you or a passenger need to use our on-site parking for accessibility reasons, please contact us in advance to request a space. We do not offer general guest parking in College. There are several public car parks within walking distance.

Onsite facilities

The grounds at Jesus are the largest of all the Colleges in the University of Cambridge, with expansive, beautiful gardens. There are sheltered courts and more informal areas such as the Orchard.

Recent improvements to the woodland walk through The Grove at the perimeter of the College Close have earned our gardening team an award for the promotion of biodiversity.

There are three lawns on which guests are not permitted to walk – the First Court lawn, Cloister Court lawn, and a small section of grass surrounding the Chapel. Otherwise guests are welcome to use the lawns for drinks receptions during the summer months.

We provide free wireless internet connection in most of our meeting rooms, and in all our accommodation.

The College does not allow smoking on the premises, aside from in designated smoking areas in First Court and by the College Bar.

What to do in Cambridge

The best way to see Cambridge is on foot, there are a number of walking tours that take you through all the key historic buildings and Colleges.

Punting tours are also available from a number of points along the river. We would highly recommend a chauffeured punt, but for the more adventurous you can hire a punt to steer yourself.

Cambridge has many high street and boutique shops to explore, and lots of attractive green spaces to relax in. There are also a number of museums, art galleries, theatres, and cinemas to enjoy.

Visitors should check in at the Porters' Lodge, or in West Court reception for West Court accommodation bookings, where a room key or access card will be issued. Rooms are available from 2pm on the day of arrival. The Porters’ Lodge is open 24 hours a day, but the College gates are usually closed at midnight.

We provide linen and towels, complimentary toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities in our guest bedrooms.

There is a £10 charge for the late return of room keys, and potentially more for lost keys.

Guests with special requirements

We aim to offer all guests assistance on arrival where needed, but if you think you may need assistance please contact us in advance to let us know your requirements.

Wheelchair users and guests with reduced mobility

Unfortunately, guests who use a wheelchair or other mobility aid may find that they are unable to access some of our facilities. We have installed a stairlift to provide access to the Hall and Upper Hall. We also have some wheelchair accessible guest bedrooms at ground floor level and serviced by lifts.

Guests with impaired vision or hearing

We ask guests with any visual or hearing impairments to let us know in advance of their arrival so that we can make sure that staff are aware of their needs, particularly in the event of a fire evacuation.
