Charles Dean Prangley, 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Lincolnshire Regiment

Charles Dean Prangley was expected to join the College in October 1915 to read Modern Languages after attending Marlborough College.

Born: 16 March 1897

Fell in action: 28 September 1916

C.D. PrangleyOur image was kindly supplied by Marlborough College Archives. Instead he accepted a commission to the Lincolnshire Regiment. He is not listed on the final University War List but his name is listed in a version printed in June 1916 along with ten other names who had been expected to matriculate in October 1915.

There is, however, a short obituary for him in which his Captain wrote “He was a splendid fellow in every way. He worked and led as an officer should… I had absolute confidence in him” (Jesus College Society Annual Report, 1917, p33).
