Why lifelong learning matters

On 15 March the Intellectual Forum and ThinkLab welcomed David Rogier, CEO of MasterClass, to give his take on the power of lifelong learning.

Since its inception in 2015, MasterClass has provided access to 100+ of the world’s most famous practitioners. With classes on a wide variety of subjects, and instructors ranging from Serena Williams to Margaret Atwood, Gordon Ramsay to RuPaul, MasterClass has grown into one of the fastest and largest online learning platforms in the world.

David Rogier spoke about why he founded the platform, what he drew upon from his own experiences and gave his take on the power of lifelong learning.

David Rogier is the founder and CEO of MasterClass, the streaming platform where anyone can learn from the best. Growing up, Rogier loved learning but often struggled in school. Determined to reinvent the traditional model and provide learning opportunities for everyone, he created MasterClass in 2015. 

In 2020, Rogier was recognized on Fortune’s “40 under 40” list as one of the most influential leaders in media and entertainment and as one of Variety’s Hollywood New Leaders. He currently lives in San Francisco, where MasterClass is headquartered.
