Student ambassadors visit North East schools

Our undergraduate ambassadors have participated in a five day tour of schools in the North East to encourage students from the area to consider applying to university.

Eighteen ambassadors visited over 30 schools across North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland and Newcastle, delivering talks and workshops about applying to highly selective universities, and describing what life is like as an undergraduate student at Jesus College. The ambassadors predominantly worked with students from Year 9 through to Year 12.

The tour took place in the North East due to the College’s commitment to the University of Cambridge Area Links scheme, which pairs Colleges with areas across the UK for outreach and access work.

Dr Geoff Parks, Senior Tutor, said: “Our ambassadors play a key role in visiting schools, offering prospective students an insight into undergraduate life and helping to demystify the university application process. Thank you to the schools and pupils who have made our team so welcome, we hope that you came away with plenty of positive information to think about.”

Schools in the area who would like to be involved in future tours can find out more information on our school visits page. Day visits, residential events, teacher information sessions and taster days are also available. Please contact the Schools Liaison Officer for more information.
