John Hughes Arts Festival 2023

The ninth John Hughes Arts Festival is returning to College this year from the 10-12 February.

The Festival began in 2015 to commemorate the late Rev’d John Hughes, the College’s Dean of Chapel and Chaplain, and has taken place annually ever since. He championed art and creativity, and the Festival brings together the College and the wider community in celebration of his values.

The centrepiece of the Festival is the open hang gallery in West Court, displaying artwork from people all over Cambridge and curated under this year’s theme ‘Retro Future’. The gallery will open for viewing from 7pm on the launch night of the Festival, Friday 10 February, accompanied by an open mic in the Jesus College Bar.

Other highlights include an arts fair, yoga, a film screening, a nature trail walk and art workshop, and a themed formal to close out the Festival.

Most of the Festival’s events are free to attend and open to the general public as well as the College community, but some have limited capacity so will require booking on Eventbrite beforehand.

For more information about the Festival and its events, check out the JHAF Instagram and Facebook pages.

Tickets to the events are available on the John Hughes Arts Festival Eventbrite.
