Jesus College undergraduates win a Telegraph UK STEM Award

Congratulations to Digby Chappell (2015) and Jake Levi (2015) who have won the Design category of the 2016 Telegraph STEM Awards.

The Telegraph UK STEM Awards invites talented undergraduates to present their world-changing ideas to industry experts.

The Design category brief was to propose an efficient, dynamic and interactive piece of technology that could replace a piece of human or fixed infrastructure in the built environment.

Digby and Jake’s project ‘Civis’ is a data network and traffic management system based on data acquired using upgraded street light heads. The network is utilised via wireless communication between cars, street lights and traffic lights, using the visible light spectrum.

Digby and Jake received their award at the overall finals in London. They were featured in the Sunday Telegraph STEM Awards supplement on 1 May.
