Free events at John Hughes Arts Festival this weekend

Students at Jesus College have announced the line up for the fifth John Hughes Arts Festival. Open to the public and students alike, the free series of events takes place from Friday 8th to Tuesday 12th February.

The festival was set up by a group of students to commemorate the life and spirit of John Hughes, Jesus College’s Dean of Chapel, who tragically died in a car accident in 2014. The festival is founded on John's commitment to openness and his appreciation for the arts in all their forms.

Building on the successes of previous events, this year’s festival has been extended by two days. The rich and diverse line up will celebrate John’s life as well as the College’s commitment to and enthusiasm for the arts.

The festival will launch with an Open Hang Gallery featuring a great range of work submitted by students, artists, and the general public. Other events include a poetry workshop with award-winning author and College Fellow Commoner Preti Taneja, a variety show, a tour of the College's expansive art and sculpture collection, a secret postcard auction, and talks from special guests.
