Congratulations to our graduates

Congratulations to the 90 Jesuans who graduated at the University Senate House today.

There was a celebratory mood in College as our students graduated at University Senate House today – the first in-person graduation ceremony since the start of the pandemic.

This was the main graduation ceremony for undergraduate students completing their degrees across a breadth of subjects. All were conferred by our Master, Sonita Alleyne, who was delighted to be able to see students graduate in person.

She said: “It has been an extraordinary 18 months and I’m incredibly proud of all of our students for the commitment and resilience they have demonstrated. I wish them all every success in their years to come and look forward to welcoming them back to College in the not-too-distant future.”

Students lined up in small groups for the traditional photograph before Dr Geoff Parks, Senior Tutor, explained the origins and meaning of the ceremony. Later in the day, they assembled in First Court and processed through the main College gate and down the Chimney, emerging on to Jesus Lane to walk to Senate House in King’s Parade.

Family and friends who would normally attend watched the ceremonies, conducted in Latin and in full academic dress, via a livestream link.

See some of the highlights of the day in this video.

We extend our warm congratulations to our graduates and, in the words of the College motto, hope that their journeys may be successful, whatever the future holds for them.
