Cambridge beats Oxford in Varsity rugby matches

Cambridge achieved a cleap sweep at the women's and men's Varsity rugby matches against Oxford last Thursday 12 December, with current postgraduate Jen Atherton (2017) coming on as inside centre with four minutes to go.

The women's team won for the third year in a row, taking the overall number of women's Cambridge victories to 14 versus Oxford's 19. Cambridge trailed 5-3 until two minutes before the end when a late try by Coreen Grant delivered a last-minute victory.

The men's team used a steady, relentless approach to take the trophy back from Oxford, winning 15-0. It was Cambridge's 64th victory in the 138th Varsity Match, one of the world’s longest running sporting fixtures.
