Astronaut Alumna

Congratulations to Jenni Sidey (2011) who has become one of Canada's latest astronauts, as announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Canada Day (1 July 2017).

As announced by the Canadian Space Agency, Jenni has already been through a rigorous one-year selection programme. Out of 3,772 applications, Jenni is one of just two new astronauts who will move on to a two-year training program starting in August 2017 at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

As outlined in a University article earlier this year, Jenni grew up inspired by Canada’s first female astronaut - and now will no doubt be a role model herself for future generations of scientists and astronauts.
