Organ Scholars

Playing the organ

Jesus College has two organ scholars at any one time, who assist the Director of Chapel Music in all aspects of organ playing and choir training.

It is expected that the organ scholars will be in attendance at all rehearsals and services. It is usually the case that the organ scholars manage the training of probationer choristers, keeping in close discussion with the Director of Chapel Music should problems occur. Outside of university full term, the organ scholars are expected to stay in residence as agreed with the Director of Chapel Music. It is usually the case that during this period the Director of Chapel Music will take some or all of the probationer classes. In addition, the organ scholar(s) may be required for extra services during vacations. In most cases it is only necessary to have one scholar present, again in agreement with the Director of Chapel Music.

More general information, including details about auditions and interviews, is available from the University Undergraduate Admissions Prospectus.
