Financial matters

In 2011/12 the College Consolidated Fee payable by graduate students is £2289. It will inevitably be somewhat higher in subsequent years – figures are revised annually in the late summer. Graduate students are also liable for the University Composition Fee unless in receipt of a scholarship, award or bursary. All graduate students, whether resident in college or external accommodation, will be required to deposit a sum of money with the College as ‘Caution Money’. This sum is reimbursed in full after graduation provided no charges have arisen against it.
The Graduate Tutors’ Secretary at Jesus College can provide further information if required.

Jesus College invites applications for the 2012/13 Research Scholarship. The holder of the Scholarship must be, or seek to be, a candidate for the first year of the PhD degree at the University of Cambridge. The Scholarship is tenable in any subject relevant to China’s needs and is open to men and women from mainland People’s Republic of China.
The holder of the Scholarship must have graduated by August 2012, and election to the Scholarship will usually be conditional on excellent results in degree examinations. The Scholarship is intended for candidates who have already been awarded, or are likely to graduate with, first class honours or equivalent. The award is conditional upon the person elected being accepted by the Board of Graduate Studies of the University. Application for PhD study at the University may be made online. University applications should reach the Board of Graduate Studies as soon as possible and not later than 31 March in the year of entry.
The Scholarship is subject to reviews of diligence and progress, and is renewable annually up to a maximum of three years. The Scholarship will meet the full cost of University and College fees. Any maintenance payments may be determined after considering the successful candidate’s income from other sources. A student without income from other sources may receive full maintenance support (approximately £10,000 a year, and subject to annual review).
An application form for this Scholarship may be found below or obtained electronically from the Graduate Tutors’ Secretary, Jesus College, Cambridge CB5 8BL (email: gradtutor@jesus.cam.ac.uk). Applicants should apply directly through the College Graduate Office and must have indicated Jesus College as their first choice in their application to the Board of Graduate Studies. Current Jesus students are also eligible.
Completed Scholarship applications must be received no later than 1 April in the year of entry. The elected student will be required to come into residence as a member of the College in September/October 2012. It is normally possible to provide single College accommodation for the first year of study. The College’s small number of furnished flats for graduates with partners are not available from 2011-2013 due to an accommodation refurbishment programme.
